Just got my grades back – all my classes passed! (WOO!)
Life’s been pretty busy the last few weeks coming into finals, so now that I’m on break, it’s weird not having a priority list in front of me.
Sometime in the coming weeks, I’ll be implanting my second magnet in my finger. This is particularly exciting because it’s NOT a parylene magnet; it’s a titanium nitride coated N52 from Dangerous Things — made just for biohackers! I’m super excited to set a date with Linda and get that puppy in there.
I’m also working on learning Swift; I’m hoping Christmas brings me an Apple dev license and (maybe) a used Mac Mini. I’ve been limping along on my Lion virtual machine, but my laptop just doesn’t have the juice to virtualize anything more demanding than Linux with any degree of capability. I’m still on the fence between Swift and ObjC; from what my friends have told me, ObjC might not be as difficult as I think it is, but I know that Swift is much closer to the languages I already know than ObjC, so I’m tending towards Swift. I know I’ll be bumping into ObjC in the course of my dev anyway, so if the grass looks greener on the other side, I may switch.
**I’m also on the hunt for internships/jobs! **I’d ideally like to do something with backend development (PHP mainly, but I’m feeling comfortable enough with node.js that it’s a possibility), but I’m looking at anything having to do with dev – dev sysops, frontend work, etc. If you know someone who is looking, please let me know! I’m happy to email out resumes to anyone who is interested.
